Benefits by state

Some programs have different rules in each state: Medicaid for people 65 and over, help paying Medicare costs, food help (SNAP), and extra state payments added to SSI.

State guides are being written now. The first states will be California, Florida, Texas, New York and Pennsylvania. Until then, the federal guides apply in every state, and your state’s rules can only be the same or more generous for help paying Medicare costs.
